Mvuu Lodge

Malawi Wildlife

Rating: Mid-range    Price from: £245 - £295 pp full board

Mvuu Lodge overview

The elegant Mvuu Wilderness Lodge is situated along the banks of the Shire River in Liwonde National Park, Malawi's premier wildlife reserve. Mvuu Lodge offers exclusive accommodation in seven spacious, luxurious tents, each with ensuite bathroom and private veranda set over the lagoon, for outstanding wildlife viewing. Facilities include a dining room, bar and lounge area, and a pool. Mvuu Lodge can accommodate 14 guests. Larger groups can also be accommodated in the nearby Mvuu Camp.

A wide range of animals can be seen in the area, including elephant, hippo, impala, waterbuck and sable antelope, and leopard, vervet monkeys, serval and large crocodiles are also common. Black rhino have recently been reintroduced from South Africa. There is also a rich birdlife along the Shire River, including the African Fish Eagle and Pel's Fishing Owl.

The game viewing here is by vehicle, boat and on foot and the staff are really accommodating - they will set your daily safari schedule to suit your needs and can combine any or all of the activities, together with sundowners and bush meals to make for a memorable stay.

They recycle bottles into drinking glasses, make plant ties out of old tyres...... but more importantly they are very involved with numerous conservation projects in Lwonde National park. They have a really positive influence in their region.
