Sitting by Lake Malawi is just like being next to the sea, but with a few less waves! It makes a wonderful beach escape to add on to a safari either within Malawi, or maybe in Botswana, Zambia, or even northern South Africa. Or you can simply come here and enjoy the lake and its beaches on their own.
There are 'mainland' shore beach resorts, but for this suggestion we have gone for a lovely lodge called Kaya Mawa on Likoma Island within the lake. This is just a small island, really friendly, and a great place to meet the local people. There is even a huge cathedral here!
Kaya Mawa is a wonderfully peaceful beach lodge in a gorgeous position. You can simply sit and chill, or take part in the various watersports which are offered here - snorkelling, diving, fishing, windsurfing, kayaking, sailing ... Inland you can also go for walks or maybe borrow a mountain bike. There is also a pool of course.
The rooms are gorgeous, whether you want a romantic hideaway or a family room. Read more about the lodge on its own information page.
If your budget won't quite stretch to Kaya Mawa, talk to us about other great alternatives you can consider. And if you want to upgrade we can also help you with this too.
Sadly it is time to head home. You'll be transferred to the airstrip for your flight back to Lilongwe and your onward connections. Breakfast.
