Chelinda Lodge is situated in the 2607m high Nyika Plateau in the Nyika National Park, a vast, untouched, beautiful wilderness area, home to eland, roan antelope zebra, reedbuck, bushbuck, klipspringer, duiker, warthog, bushpig and blue monkey.
Accommodation at Chelinda Lodge is in eight log cabins, each with fireplace; an important feature, as this region can be colder than anywhere else in Africa. Some cabins have two floors. On the ground floor there is an open plan bedroom and lounge, with ensuite bathroom, queen-sized beds, wing-back chairs and a verandah. Upstairs there is a further living area. All the cabins are connected by wooden walkways and are beautifully landscaped on the hillside. The main building has a large dining room, a comfortable lounge, bar, reception area and curio shop. There is also one unit which has two rooms linked by a lounge in the middle, great for families or friends.
Nyika is the only 'big game' Afro-montane area in southern and south-central Africa. Mammals here include zebra, roan, reedbuck, eland, bushbuck, warthog, bush pig, leopard, hyaena, side striped jackal and serval. Birding here is spectacular including quite a few endemics. One of the world's richest areas for orchids over 200 species occur here.

"This lodge is stunning! The clear air of the Nyika is refreshing and at some times of the year it's extremely cold here but the rooms are well heated with open fires and lovely hot water bottles in the beds! The main area has lovely fireplaces and the food and service was superb. I'd only send clients to Nyika who were keen on being miles from anywhere and like hiking, biking, birding or botany, this is not a mainstream wildlife destination, so think carefully about why you go and what time of year you go."
