It's not often something new, exciting and unique comes along in Madagascar, but Miavana, on the exclusive island of Nosy Ankao promises to be just that. The resort opened in 2017 and is open all year round.
Nosy Ankao, off the north east coast of Madagascar is a private island offering idyllic turquoise Indian Ocean waters, together with untouched wilderness. This is where you will find Miavana. There are just 14 villas here, offering one, two and three bedrooms. Space is not issue as these palatial villas are gererous in size, what's more they are located right on the white sandy beach with each private veranda overlooking the vibrant ocean with mainland Madagascar in the distance.
The designers have an excellent pedigree (North Island in the Seychelles and Chinzombo in Zambia) and an attention to detail and comfort in both design and decor will be carried through at Miavana. The main area has both indoor and outdoor dining areas, a well-stocked wine cellar and a rooftop bar. A crystal clear pool and a bar are located amongst tropical green vegetation. A charming French garden compliments the main area and is a delightful place to relax and lose yourself in thought.
Whether you're here to relax or discover you won't be disappointed. There are opportunities to snorkel or dive the surrounding reef or venture out deep-sea fishing beyond it. The water activities here are comprehensive with fly-fishing, kite surfing and guided boat tours around the bays, lagoons and beaches giving you a valuable insight into this stunning and diverse ecosystem. You don't even have to venture far from your villa to enjoy the beauty of the island by taking a gentle walk along the beach, see turtles nesting or even hatching up close and maybe spy a chameleon among the trees. If you fancy a little pampering then book in at the lodge's own luxurious spa. If you feel the need to 'get off' the island then helicopter trips to the rainforest on the mainland can be arranged, you can then take a lemur safari, or a guided hike.
With conservation of the island and its vulnerable natural resources in mind, Miavana fits perfectly into Tribes' accommodation with heart and provides the discerning traveller with an upmarket escape, quite unlike any other in Madagascar.
