Built in a prominent position in the Sandstone Mountains, Isalo Rock Lodge has wonderful views over the cliffs to the forest of Isalo National Park. The lodge's grounds offer opportunities for walking to admre the stunning scenery, and there's an outdoor pool where you can cool off, and a spa offering soothing massages and therapies. The restaurant serves a pleasing blend of European and local cuisines. There is a large lounge-bar with bar stools and comfy sofas. Both the restaurant and lounge feature floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views.
Rooms are spacious and furnished to a high degree. Facilities include a kettle and supply of tea of coffee, a minibar, safe, large bathroom with bath, shower and twin vanity units. The styling is contemporary. Air conditioning helps keep them cool in hot weather. Each room leads ourt to a balcony with deck chairs. There are larger family rooms and suites with lounges, for those desiting greater space.
Isalo National Park offers many opportunities for walking and hiking. The scenery is a mix of gorges, canyons, cliffs, rock formations, waterfalls and pools. The wildlife is impressive, too, with a variety of lemurs including the well-known ringtails, many species of birds and reptiles. While at Rock Lodge you can visit the national park with a guide to explore this fascinating area.

Location: The lodge is in the Sandstone Mountains bordering Isalo National Park.
Rooms: There are 60 rooms, made up of twins, doubles, family rooms and suites. All have a large en-suite bathroom with twin hand basins, shower, bath, toiletries, bathrobes and hairdryer. Bedrooms have a tea and coffee maker, minibar, safe, chair and table, storage space, phone for use within the hotel, mosquito net and balcony with 2 chairs. Suites also have a lounge. All rooms and suites are air conditioned.
Activities: Go for guided walks and hikes in Isalo National Park, to spot wildlife and admire the varied scenery. Horse riding can be arranged. After dark the clear skies offer fine star gazing.
Facilities: The hotel has a lounge-bar and restaurant, both with full length windows looking out over the cliffs and forest. There is also a dining terrace. There is an outdoor swimming pool and pool bar. The lodge has spa. There are walking trails including one that leads to Giorgio’s Window, best visited to watch the sunset. Reception is staffed 24 hours a day.
Dining: Meals are a blend of Malagasy and European cooking, served at individual tables.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome. There are family rooms, and cots are available on request.
Health: This is a malarial area.
Communication: There is free Wi-Fi internet access in public areas and rooms though this is not always reliable.
