7 days from £3200pp plus international flights.
Taking a wildlife safari in both Samburu in the north and the Masai Mara in the south gives you two very different landscapes in which to enjoy the very special wilderness and wildlife of Kenya. This trip is perfect for anyone wanting a top class safari, but add the 'Warrior Academy' experience and it's also a wonderful family adventure.
The Saruni lodges at Samburu and the Mara are both very high quality independent lodges with an eye for detail, incredible accommodation, great food and offering superb safari experiences. Both are in private reserves outside of the national parks which means that there are far fewer people around and yet the wildlife is free to roam here.
The Samburu region is far drier than the Mara and you will likely see a slightly different range of wildlife here than in the Mara. In the Mara, you could try to see the annual migration if you visit between about July and October, but the resident wildlife is of course here all year round.
There are also lots of activities you could engage in:
Game drives in Kalama Conservancy, Buffalo Springs National Park and Samburu National Park, Mara North Conservancy and Masai Mara National Reserve.
Night drives in Kalama Conservancy and Mara North Conservancy - not allowed in the National Parks.
Guided bush walks
Cultural village or market visits.
Bush meals - take breakfast or dinner out in the bush.
Sundowners - drinks and nibbles as the sun goes down on another superb day on safari.
Swim in the infinity pools at Saruni Samburu with amazing views.
See rock art in nearby caves at Samburu.
Wellbeing Space - for spa treatments and massages.
Hike up Mount Ololokwe, the Samburu tribe's sacred mountain, or Kilelioni, the highest peak in the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem.
Helicopter excursion from Samburu or hot air balloon flight from the Mara - exhilarating and unforgettable ways to see a bird's eye view of the region.
The Warrior Academy is a great experience for families with children, and you can add this to your time at either or both Saruni lodges at no extra cost. For half a day or up to 3 days, have fun and learn lots about the bush, wildlife and tribal traditions from your warrior guide. It's great fun.
