13 days from £3195pp plus international flights.
The Masai Mara offers the drama of beautiful wilderness and exciting wildlife at all times of the year. It is of course especially known for its big cats, and lion and leopard sightings are generally very good here. However other wildlife is also prolific, so the Mara really is one of Africa's gems of wildlife viewing.
After your time on safari, we fly you across the country to the coast for your week of rest and relaxation on the beach. The beaches near Mombasa are superb, and for this holiday we have selected the lovely boutique hotel of Pinewood Village on Galu Beach. It's not as big as many of the hotels in the Mombasa area, yet still has plenty of activities to offer you, and we really like its more personal atmosphere.
When you arrive at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met and driven across town to your hotel for the night. Have a restful night ready for the start of you safari adventure tomorrow.
This morning we will pick you up at your hotel after breakfast and transfer to the domestic airport (Wilson) for the roughly 1 hour flight to the Masai Mara.
You will again be met on arrival and driven to your camp, Kicheche Mara, for a 4 night stay. The camp is in Acacia Valley, next to the Olare Orak River in the private Mara North Conservancy. This is fabulous wildlife territory adjacent to the Masai Mara National Reserve (and no fences separating them). Your safari begins!
Your stay here at Kicheche includes all game drives and bush walks. There is a flexible approach to activities here, avoiding a regimented feel to game viewing, and allowing you to do the activities you want and at the time you wish. The guides are knowledgeable and have a good understanding of clients' needs, going that extra mile for a leopard sighting or that special sunset photograph.
Two full days of game viewing activities. The Masai Mara is one of the most famous wildlife regions in the world and provides the most diverse game viewing within Kenya. As well as game drives, the camp provides a variety of opportunities to view animals while on foot. Additionally, you can experience Maasai culture through an authentic village visit with a cultural adviser on hand to answer any questions and explain the inter-reliance of wildlife and communities.
Today you will fly from the Masai Mara to Mombasa, where you will be met and driven south to Galu Beach and Pinewood Village. You have a relaxing 7 nights to enjoy here at the beach, so settle in, and chill!
The hotel is set amidst tropical flora and palms and offers an ambiance that is supremely tranquil.
Breakfast, lunch & dinner.
Facilities at Pinewood include an attractive swimming pool, swim-up pool bar, several restaurants, a watersport & dive centre, tennis and squash courts and small shops. The watersports centre can arrange scuba diving, kids scuba rangers club, deep sea fishing, kite surfing, banana boat and air glider, snorkelling, sea excursions, kayaking and wind surfing. There is also a spa - spoil yourself!
You have several days to enjoy the tranquil pace of life at Pinewood. As well as the wide range of watersports, other activities include bird watching by the shore and in the forest and strolling in the hotel's gardens with their colourful tropical flowers. Treat yourself to some delicious fresh seafood and enjoy a refreshing cocktail as the sun sets. In short - relax!
Today you will be transferred back to Mombasa airport in time for your flight home.
