Keekorok Lodge has been welcoming guests to the Masai Mara for over 50 years. One of Africa’s most famous wildlife reserves, the Masai Mara is home to millions of plains game and their predators, and is especially well-known for its big cat sightings. From July to October the spectacle of the annual migration in the Mara is one of the world’s best known wildlife events.
Keekorok has 101 en-suite rooms in stone-built bungalows, each with private verandahs some of which look over the reserve, and others that face the large gardens.
There is a swimming pool, and also a permanent watering hole which is home to hippos and regularly visited by elephants and lions. Don’t get them confused!
Game drives in the reserve are taken twice daily – in the early morning and in the afternoon. Your professional guide will try to show you as many as possible of the animals you’re hoping to see, and explain about the flora and fauna of this impressive wilderness. There is also the possibility to take full day game drives with a picnic.
"A very different experience to the previous two venues. To be honest, had i known it was so much more \'commercial\' i wouldnt have made this choice. Accomodation and service was all very good. A good selection in the dining room for all meals. GAme drives seemed to s#be set early morning and then late afternoon leaving you with little to do during the day. We made a request for a longer drive on the second day which was granted - so this was great. The majority of the staff were very professional and helpful. A few of the dining room staff were rather iserable and seemed as if things were too much trouble. The reception and bar staff were brilliant and very friendly "
