SwaSwara overlooks photogenic Om Beach yet is not your typical beach resort. It is a sanctuary dedicated to health and well-being in mind, body and soul, where trained practitioners fine tune therapies and apply the principles and practises of Ayurveda and yoga to leave you feeling refreshed, re-balanced and re-energised.
This approach is encapsulated in 3 programmes ranging from 5 to 21 nights that can be enjoyed during a stay at SwaSwara.
The 5 night Swa Wellbeing programme is a comprehensive combination of treatments involving group and individual yoga classes, meditation, nature trails, massages, art and music therapy, cooking classes, nourishing cuisine and consultations with doctors. Over several days you are introduced to a variety of techniques of both body and mind to help you relax, take heed of your inner voice (swara) and create a positive approach that you can apply in your everyday life.
Ayurveda Rejuvenation is offered in 7 and 10 night packages. This is a great way to lean about and benefit from the ancient system of Ayurveda, which fuses together physical, spiritual and emotional aspects to leave you feeling invigorated. This is particularly helpful for people with arthritis, back pain, poor circulation and sinus problems. You begin with a session with one of the hotel’s Ayurvedic doctors, who designs a personalised plan with up to 2 treatments a day including massage, yoga, meditation, painting and sculpture sessions and a special vegetarian diet.
There are 2 Ayurveda Detox and Panchakarma programmes, 14 nights and 21 nights. As the name suggests, this treatment starts with an intensive process to rid the body of toxins, undertaken after consultation with an Ayurveda doctor. This involves ingesting medicated ghee for a several days and submitting to therapeutic sweating, and is followed by a day of purging. At this stage your body is cleansed inside and out, and you are ready to receive treatments including light yoga and meditation, art classes and interactive cooking sessions. You follow a strict, personalised vegetarian diet as part of the process. This holistic programme is designed to strengthen the immune system, restore balance and enhance well-being.
Minimum age: SwaSwara is open to people aged 15 years and over, and the minimum aged for Indian spa therapies is 18, though younger guests are welcome to take part in yoga, meditation, walks and art classes.
You fly into Goa where you are met by a staff member from SwaSwara for the drive to the resort, a journey of about 4 hours. On arrival you are greeted and shown to your villa, a private sanctuary with an air conditioned bedroom, bathroom open to the fresh air and quiet inner courtyard. The atmosphere is restful and calm. Having settled in you can explore your surroundings as you walk in the gardens and admire views of the beach and Indian Ocean. Later you sit down to your first helping of the healthy, organic cuisine you'll enjoy throughout your stay.
Every well being programme at SwaSwara is based on the advice of one of the resident Ayurvedic doctors. In your initial consultation the doctor explains the principles that lie at the heart of the various therapies and the aims of the treatments you will enjoy over the course of the programme.
Each day revolves around the programme arranged for you, and usually includes up to two treatments which may be any of the following: yoga and meditation, Ayurvedic massage, painting and pottery classes and lifestyle advice. You may also take part in various optional activities such as guided walks and bird watching in the gardens, and participate in cooking classes. all physical activities are subject to the approval of the doctor overseeing your treatment. On completion of your programme you can opt to extend your stay at SwaSwara, taking a little longer to enjoy the gardens, pool, ocean views and appreciate the tranquil location to the full.
At the end of your stay, feeling restored and revitalised, you are transferred to Goa airport for your onward travel arrangements.
