Owned by a branch of the Jodhpur royal family, Ratan Vilas was built as a family residence in the 1920s and has been operating as a hotel in 1996. It's located on the city outskirts, about a 10 minute drive from the centre.
The hotel is set in pleasant gardens and has a dining marquee to the left of the main entrance, and a swimming pool on the right. Inside there is a drawing room, with walls decorated by old family portraits, and dining room used mainly in winter. At the rear of the property there are two courtyards with tables and chairs, also used for outdoor dining. Meals are based on authentic Rajasthani cuisine.
The 20 guest rooms are built around the courtyards. All have private bathrooms, air conditioning, ceiling fan, TV, phone, tea and coffee maker and minibar. Superior rooms are larger than the standard ones.
There are plans to add 5 more rooms in a new wing, and a spa by the pool, in 2015.

"Ratan Vilas is a heritage hotel, once a family mansion built by Maharaj Singhji of Raoti in 1920. It still feels like a family home and has a very warm atmosphere and comfortable rooms and traditional drawing room and courtyards to relax in. There is also a lovely swimming pool and pretty garden. Ratan Vilas is only a short drive from the main sights of Jodhpur."
