Staying at Bandhav Vilas you have Bandhavgarh National Park on your doorstep and can take twice daily jeep excursions to see its famous tigers, as well as sloth bears, monkeys, sambar and spotted deer and leopards. Between times you are free to make yourself at home at the lodge, relaxing in the privacy of your palatial villa, enjoying a massage in the spa and cooling off with a swim in the pool.
Your villa is stylish and spacious with air conditioned interiors and a lovely private courtyard. Despite being in a remote location you do not have forgo creature comforts and the villa comes wih TV, Wi-Fi, tea and coffee maker and mini fridge. The bathroom has a supply of herbal toiletries and is supplemented by an extravagent open-air shower. Bathrobes and slippers are provided to help you feel at home.
Days revolve around safaris in the national park. Your morning and afternoon drives take place in an open jeep to optimise the views and you are accompanied by a knowledgeable naturalist guide. The tiger is the star and this park has the highest population density of these big cats in India, so your chances of sptting one are as good as they can be. You can also ride through the park on the back of elephant, for a different perspective. If you wish, you can substitute a safari for a visit to the historic Bandhavgarh Fort.
In your downtime at the lodge as well as enjoying the pool and spa you have the opportunity to join a guide for a nature ramble in the extensive grounds, and walk or cycle to the nearby village to sample life in this rural part of central India.
Open: Bandhav Vilas is open from October to June each year.
Location: The lodge is in 6 hectares of grounds in the Vindhya Hills, about a 20-minute drive from the Tala entrance of Bandhavgarh National Park. The closest airports are at Jabalpur and Khajuraho, 164kms and 237kms away respectively.
Rooms: There are 20 villas, each occupying 92sqm. They are air conditioned, have a minifridge, tea and coffee making facilities, TV, phone, Wi-Fi internet access, hairdryer, and en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water and toiletries, and an outdoor shower. Each villa has a private outdoor seating area, and comes with a bicycle. Bathrobes and slippers are provided for every guest. There is 24-hour room service.
Activities: Take morning and afternoon jeep safaris in the 6 zones of Bandhavgarh National Park and Tiger Reserve with an experienced naturalist guide. Elephant-back safaris are offered subject to availability. It is also possible to visit Bandhavgarh Fort. You can go for nature walks with a guide in the lodge’s grounds, and cycle or walk to the nearby village.
Facilities: Reception is open 24 hours a day. The lodge has a restaurant, lounge and library-cum-bar. There are courtyards, a pond and a firepit. Recreational facilities include an outdoor swimming pool and a spa. There are treatment rooms for massages and meditation, and aromatherapy treatments are available in the privacy of your villa. On some evenings there are performances of local music and dance. The lodge provides a laundry service.
Dining: Meals are served in the restaurant and outside by the firepit in the evening. Both Indian and international dishes are served. The lodge has a vegetable garden which provides much of the fresh produce.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome.
Health: We recommend malaria prophylactics for travel to India.
Communication: There is Wi-Fi internet access in communal areas.
