There are several programmes to choose from, each designed with specific aims, all outlined below along with the minimum stay required for each. Longer courses are available. Some programmes allow you time to take part in other activities at Ananda such as group yoga, mediitation and fitness classes, while others are more intense with several sessions a day. The minimum age for these prgrammes is 18.
Detox: let your digestive system have a well earned rest through a strictly controlled diet, combined with aromatherapy, hyrdotherapy, ayurveda treatments, yoga, meditation and gentle exercise. The result is improved circulation of the blood and lymphactic systems which helps your liver better filter toxins from the body and increases your stamina, immune system and energy levels. There are 4 stages to the process and it requires a minimum of 7 nights stay.
Weight Management: the link between self image and weight is at the core of this treatment, hence meditation plays a vital role, alongside detox therapies, exercise, yoga and diet. The exercise element is aimed at burning calories and is tailored by your fitness trainer, while the diet is designed to balance metabollic power. The 4 phases of the programme aid your digestion of nutrients, help tone your body, induce weight loss and build strength, stamina and flexibility. Minimum stay is 14 nights.
Ayurvedic Rejuvenation: eliminate harmful toxins and boost your body's immunity, through a combination of yoga and diet. Ayurvedic principles underline the treatment, as you first cleanse and then re-energise your body and mind. Yogic Detox: Hatha yoga forms the basis of this treatment which incorporates different purifying techniques to acheive and natural and effective detox. Yogic postures, astanas, are deployed along with yogic breathing techniques, meditation and diet, and coupled with detox practises. Stress Management: stress is an enemy of mental and physical health, and this course combines a blend of Ayurveda, yoga, Tibetan and international elements to promote tranquility. Deep relaxation, massages, meditation, reiki and exercise are part of the 3 stage process, which identifies the basic causes of stress then uses selected therapies to cleanse the mind and help you deal effectively with stress now and in the future. Dhyana: this programme is designed to help you achieve self-realisation by gaining greater control over your physical and mental faculties. Dhyana is a form of meditation, which over the centuries has incorporated Bhuddist, Hindu and Jainist principles. By using Dhyana you are able to gain mental harmony and access the potential of the 'higher mind'. overcome negative thoughts and achieve a sense of calm. Dhyana is used in conjunction with yoga, relexology, shaitsu and back massage, among other techniques in this 7 night treatment,
Active: taking into account your fitness level and health goals, this programme uses a holistic approach to fitness, developing a personalised routine with indoor and outdoor sessions such as circuit training, aqua fitness, white water rafting and guided treks. Other elements including spa therapies, yoga and nutrition combine to form a comprehensive 4 stage programme that is aimed at achieving a sustainable approach to fitness that you can continue at home. Renew: this course is a safe, non-invasive way to tap into youthful beauty, through the practice of yoga and the use of time-honoured beauty and healing techniques alongside 21st century anti-ageing methods. Yoga: this introduction to yoga lets you gain an understanding into the different techniques of Hatha, Raja and Kriya yogas. You are met by a staff member from Ananda when you arrive at Dehradun airport in the foothills of the Himalayas. From here it's a scenic drive of around 40 minutes to the hotel. Your destination is truly impressive, located in the grounds of a Maharah's palace with panoramic views over the Ganges River valley. Breathing the fresh mountain air you already begin to feel the health-bestowing properties of this special location. Your large room has an en-suite bathroom, a sitting area and a private balcony with views of the palace or lush gardens. This morming your are waken with a delivery of hot tea and fresh fruit to kick start your day, as will be the case throughout your programme. Following a healthy breakfast you meet your wellness co-ordinator for an initial consultation and an introduction to your chosen programme. Your treatment then gets underway. Most courses are a combination of Ayurveda, yoga, meditation and exercise plus a special diet, all tailored to your requirments and with specific goals in mind. Throughout your treatment you have consulations as needed and your progress is monitored by an Ayurvedic doctor, with therapies amended as needed. Each day you take part in specially tailored activities as part of your selected course of treatment. Some programmes are comprehensive and take up most of your day, while others allow you time to take part in group yoga, fitness, and breathing and meditation classe, and Vedanta (Hindu philosophy) lectures. Whichever programme you are following there are breaks for meals, with breakfast, lunch and dinner all included, nourishing meals based on the customised diet created for you. You also have time to appreciate the tranquil setting as you rest on the terrace, swim in the pool and stroll in the gardens where peacocks roam. Your programme has run its course and you are feeling revitalised and ready to take the health lessons and techniques you have learned over the past few days back home, to put them into practice in your day-to-day life. Getting there: This holiday starts and ends at Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun. There are daily flights between here and Delhi, which we can book for you. We can also book the international flights. Return flights from London to Delhi start from around £400, depending on season and availability
