Plaza Grande is a luxurious hotel located opposite the Presidential Palace on Quito's Central Plaza, in the historical heart of the city. The building dates back to the 16th century and was originally the home of Juan Diaz de Hidalgo, one of the Spanish conquerors and founders of the city. In the 1940's it became one of Quito's first hotels, then called the Majestic. At the beginning if the 21st century, after years of neglect, it underwent a major restoration and is now once again a fine hotel that exudes charm and style.
The 15 suites are furnished in colonial fashion, reflecting the building's heritage, and have the benefit of modern amenities and comforts such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, minibar, TV, phone and safe. La Belle Epoque, the main restaurant, and Cafe Plaza Grande serve a wide range of food including tasty local dishes, sometimes to the accompaniment of live music.
Quito's main historic sites are within walking distance, as are many shops, restaurants and cafes.
Luxury accommodation, superb scenery and wildlife all combine in this deluxe adventure of a lifetime.
