"It's hard to leave a place so close to heaven." - Elle Magazine.
Hacienda Manteles is located in the heart of the Ecuadorian Andes, about 45 minutes from Banos, between Llanganati and Sangay National Parks. The hacienda was built in 1965 and became a hotel in 1992 and has been extensively remodelled and refurbished since then. There are great views of the valley and the magnificent Tungurahua volcano.
It is a lovely hacienda offering comfortable, cosy lodging in 13 individually decorated bedrooms and 8 stylish modern suites, all with ensuite bathrooms and views of the gardens, mountains or volcano, Suites are located in separate buildings in the grounds and each has an indoor sitting area and picture windows, and some have a jacuzzi.
The dining area is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is a blend of traditonal Ecuadorian dishes and international fare.
The hacienda is set in lovely lush gardens and 200 hectares of protected primary forest. There are plenty of ways to explore this spectacular area. The hacienda can arrange hiking, horseriding, mountain biking, canyoning and birdwatching, to name a few. As a guest you provide the resources to continue preserving the forest owned by the hacienda.
A superb combination of the magnificent scenery of the southern Highlands and the wildlife of the Galapagos.
"The Hacienda Manteles was very busy, all the meals we ate there were late. We had a train booked on the 2nd day so it was a bit annoying. The guide said it was usually much more quiet and relaxing but we didn't mind the children. We also thought they could have done cereal and fruit at breakfast time. We commented on their feedback forms and had a nice reply."
