With 47 cabins dotted around the gardens, Lomas del Volcan has a quaint and relaxing atmosphere. Making the most of the views, and they are spectacular, each cabin has two verandas, one on each side, so depending on the time of day, or your mood, you can change the view simply by moving to the other veranda. All rooms have either king or queen size beds and huge windows to maximise the views. The cabins are warm and cozy, each comes with minibar, coffee maker, safe, ceiling fan, air conditioning, TV, telephone and an en-suite bathroom. Built of wood, there are accents of bright colours in the soft furnishings and pictures that adorn the walls and the windows highlight the lush green surroundings.
Wander down the pathways to the main area. It’s easy to relax here by the pool or Jacuzzi, bordered with lush green gardens and overlooked by the towering Arenal volcano. The restaurant serves scrumptious breakfasts – there's always plenty of local fresh fruit on offer and also the traditional Costa Rican breakfast, ‘gallo pinto’ or you could opt for the buffet. Lunch and dinner are also served here but if you fancy something different, La Fortuna town, with more restaurants, is only 10 minutes away, so you could try some authentic eateries in town. El Volcán bar, on site serves beer, South American wines and also delicious cocktails – enjoy them while taking in the beautiful views of the volcano which dominate the skyline.

"Personally this was my favourite hotel. Luckily we were upgraded so we had a spa bath on our balcony and also an uninterrupted view of the volcano and the forest. We could see some monkeys and a sloth. The grounds were beautiful as well. The hotel is obviously on the route of some coach tours and we had large groups arriving daily. However this was never a problem and there was always room for us and in fact we were allocated the best tables in the restaurant overlooking the gardens. The staff were really friendly and helpful. "
