This contemporary hotel is something of a local icon, and a great base for exploring the city. There's a lovely, elegantly industrial yet boutique feel to the place, and the staff know a lot about the city and are endlessly helpful. The thoughtful decor includes antique sewing machines, mementos of the family's links with the clothing and fashion industries, while the exterior is a riot of colour and expressionist-inspired art.
Attractions such as key shopping areas, museums, craft markets, the cathedral and the city's beautiful, bird-filled parks are all close at hand generally within walking distance. Just step out of the door and you're on the vibrant Central Avenue Pedestrian Boulevard, while many national parks and beaches are within driving distance.
Azotea Calle 7 restaurant-cum-cocktail bar and terrace on the 4th floor offers wonderful views of the National Theatre, Soledad Church and the city skyline as well as the mountains beyond, and is a fantastic place to enjoy a drink and a plate of tapas while you plan your next activities and watch the sunset.
Rooms are spacious and comfortable, there is free WiFi so you can catch up on your emails, and the breakfast buffets, particularly the made-to-order omelettes, are famously good. We particularly like the fact that the hotel has a 4 leaf sustainable tourism rating.

"We were given a double bed, though we had asked for a twin. They moved us to a twin room immediately. Neither of us keen on air conditioning, but we had to use this as window wouldn’t open. Otherwise, the room was clean and acceptable. We ate dinner in the city (Sylvestre’s – excellent) and the hotel breakfast was perfectly adequate."
