Aninga Lodge

Rating: Modest

Aninga Lodge overview

Aninga Lodge’s 32 rooms are all surrounded by luxuriant rainforest and linked to the central areas by raised walkways. Rustic in style, they provide simple, clean and secluded accommodation. Cool breezes blow through the gauze windows and the gently rotating ceiling fans keep the rooms at a comfortable temperature. The en-suite bathrooms have hot and cold running water, Aninga has everything you might need for a comfortable stay while visiting Tortuguero.

The restaurant serves nourishing buffet meals, a good opportunity to mix with other guests and compare notes as you enjoy the food, and there's a bar for relaxing and mingling. The spa offers pampering treatments and a swimming pool complete with a feature waterfall, is the perfect place for a refreshing dip.

You can't really get any closer to Tortuguero National Park than this, Aninga Lodge is just 5 minutes from Tortuguero National Park by boat, which is perfect for access to activities and all this area has to offer. From July to October it's possible to enjoy a spawning turtle tour as this is when the green turtles come to the beach to lay their eggs, a memorable sight, the green turtle conservation museum will provide a host of information and interesting facts on turtles in the area. The hotel has several trails which you can explore alone or with a guide and canal tours and dawn channel tours are also offered, early morning is a good time to spend on the water and watch the animals and insects wake and being their day. A worthwhile activity is a Tortuguero Village Tour where you can join the locals and see what life in the region is like for those who live here.

From July to October you may see nesting green turtles, with evening walking tours to watch them on the beach. Fishing is good between January and May, and again from August to October.

Facilities:There is a restaurant and a bar. Outside there is a swimming pool with a Jacuzzi and large sunbathing area with loungers. The al fresco resting area is a good place to sit among the trees between excursions. The spa offers massages.

Mr. Garrett O'Hanlon
"Nice people, food average but ok.remote location but with good level of comfort.fantastic howler monkey noise at4.30 daily. You won't need an alarm."
Janet Smith
"Great room, staff were very good, food was good, pool and bar was great. Lovely accommodation and the whole place was not too big. You really felt you were in the middle of the wildlife. "
Doctor John Watkins
"As you know there was an error in our booking and we in fact stayed at Evergreen Lodge. Unfortunately the main restaurant was closed there and the remaining restaurant -the Monkey - was pretty basic with indifferent food. There is no spa at Evergreen Lodge not any nature trails as there are at Aninga. You very kindly compensated us for this error with a $250 credit at the Parador. "
