Aninga Lodge’s 32 rooms are all surrounded by luxuriant rainforest and linked to the central areas by raised walkways. Rustic in style, they provide simple, clean and secluded accommodation. Cool breezes blow through the gauze windows and the gently rotating ceiling fans keep the rooms at a comfortable temperature. The en-suite bathrooms have hot and cold running water, Aninga has everything you might need for a comfortable stay while visiting Tortuguero.
The restaurant serves nourishing buffet meals, a good opportunity to mix with other guests and compare notes as you enjoy the food, and there’s a bar for relaxing and mingling. The spa offers pampering treatments and a swimming pool complete with a feature waterfall, is the perfect place for a refreshing dip.
You can't really get any closer to Tortuguero National Park than this, Aninga Lodge is just 5 minutes from Tortuguero National Park by boat, which is perfect for access to activities and all this area has to offer. From July to October it's possible to enjoy a spawning turtle tour as this is when the green turtles come to the beach to lay their eggs, a memorable sight, the green turtle conservation museum will provide a host of information and interesting facts on turtles in the area. The hotel has several trails which you can explore alone or with a guide and canal tours and dawn channel tours are also offered, early morning is a good time to spend on the water and watch the animals and insects wake and being their day. A worthwhile activity is a Tortuguero Village Tour where you can join the locals and see what life in the region is like for those who live here.

Location: The lodge is in north east Costa Rica, just a 5 minute boat ride from Tortuguero National Park. From San Jose you travel by bus for about 2 hours followed by a motorised boat ride of around an hour.
Rooms: There are 32 rooms, all en-suite with hot and cold running water. They are kept cool by ceiling fans and mesh windows allow cooling breezes to flow. The accommodation is simple but comfortable.
Activities: Take motor boat rides, go kayaking and enjoy guided nature walks in Tortuguero National Park whilst looking out for monkeys, lizards, otters, turtles, caiman and birds, follow the nature trail in the lodge’s grounds. From July to October you may see nesting green turtles, with evening walking tours to watch them on the beach. Fishing is good between January and May, and again from August to October.
Facilities: There is a restaurant and a bar. Outside there is a swimming pool with a Jacuzzi and large sunbathing area with loungers. The al fresco resting area is a good place to sit among the trees between excursions. The spa offers massages.
Dining: Wholesome meals are served buffet style at set times, and there is wine to accompany dinner. Meals are eaten at individual tables.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome. Rooms can accommodate up to 2 adults and 2 children under 12 years.
Health: Other than the province of Limon, Costa Rica has low to no risk of malaria.
Communication: There is Wi-Fi internet access in the main areas, but this can be unreliable. Mobile phone signal is usually quite good.
