This handsome townhouse was built as a private residence in 1927 and is now an upmarket boutique hotel in the eponymous bohemian district of Santiago. The elegant facade is matched by stylish interiors which incorporate original features such as large windows, polished parquet floors and marble staircases, and are enhanced by tasteful decor.
The 14 rooms are spread over 4 floors and are a fusion of classic style and mod cons, so you have air conditioning, cable TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, minibar, iPod dock and a contemporary bathroom as well as period furniture. If you plump for one of the junior suites you'll also have a balcony, and there are connecting suites that are ideal for families.
During your stay you can stroll around the local neighbourhood with its chic restaurants, bars and shops, and hop on the metro to explore downtown Santiago and other parts of the city. Staff can help with arranging city tours, museum visits and theatre tickets as well as excursions further afield such as to wine estates.
There is a pretty garden which includes a sheltered terrace and a swimming pool, a major plus for a city hotel. The restaurant serves a good range of dishes in refined surroundings, and there's an attractive dining terrace. It is open to the public for lunch and dinner, so booking is advisable, although there are plenty of alternative eateries in the vicinity.
