Rating: Mid-range
Hotel Cabana del Largo has an enviable position on the edge of Lake Llanquihue. It is also a stone's throw from the many restaurants and shops of Puerto Varas so you can explore the town on foot as and when you choose.
Although the hotel is large, it does have a homely feel, in fact the strong use of wood in the decor and furniture, along with the style of the building is reminiscent of a large alpine lodge.
There are 157 rooms in the hotel, varying in size and shape. Most have views of the lake and town. The hotel is friendly, honest and not pretentious at all. Those wanting extra luxuries and fancy touches might be best staying elsewhere, but we think Cabana del Largo offers excellent value for money for this area. There are plenty of communal sitting areas as well as the restaurant and the cosy bar on the 6th floor, where a roaring fire is lit on cooler days. Both the restaurant and bar enjoy beautiful views of the lake.
Club del Lago, adjacent to the hotel has another 32 rooms and suites. These can be converted to apartments sleeping 6. They have been designed to look like lakeside country homes decorated on the outside with wooden shingling salvaged from old buildings.
Adjacent to the hotel is the Club House where you will find the heated infinity pool, once again this building was constructed from local materials and recycled native wood. Outside is the hot tub, enjoy a soak with the lake as your backdrop.
