Hangaroa Eco Village and Spa has a prime location on Easter Island. The hotel overlooks a beautiful bay and the seemingly endless Pacific Ocean. It’s one of the better accommodation options on the island and makes the perfect base for your time here, you are within walking distance of the village and many of the island’s prime attractions.
The architecture of the hotel is rather different and thanks to the design, colours used and the grass roof it blends well with the environment. The design is based on the historical Rapa Nui homes that you will find when you visit the archaeological sites of the island. The hotel is comprised of a series of buildings, surrounded by pretty gardens. Inside, the rooms are light and bright with high ceilings and modern furniture. Wooden pillars, polished stone floors and volcanic rock have been incorporated into the décor making a striking statement.
Guests here have a choice of half and full day excursions that showcase all the wonderful highlights of this mythical island. Horse riding and scuba diving can also be arranged. Don’t forget the beach or the hotel spa for a touch of relaxation and pampering. The hotel pool overlooks to ocean, so you’ve plenty of places to enjoy some downtime when you are not out exploring this fascinating island.

Location: The hotel is located on the coast in Hanga Roa, the capital of Easter Island. The flight from Santiago on the Chilean mainland takes about 5 hours.
Rooms: There are 69 Kainga rooms and 6 Maunga rooms. The spacious rooms are all en-suite, and have large windows leading out to a private terrace. They have been constructed using materials found on the island such as cypress logs, volcanic rock and clay and these have been incorporated into the decor. There is comfy seating in the form of a sofabed, and chairs on the terrace.
Activities: The hotel offers a variety of half day and full day excursions allowing you to experience the history and culture of the island. Among the highlights are the Ahu Tongariki with 15 standing maois, Rano Kau volcanic crater and the Rano Raraku quarry. You can rent bicycles or quad bikes and discover the island at your own pace. Head out to sea and enjoy snorkelling or simply relax on the beach. Horse riding and scuba diving can also be arranged.
Facilities: The hotel has 2 restaurants, bar, spa, a sauna and steam room, fitness centre and outdoor swimming pool.
Dining: There are two restaurants at the hotel. Poerava serves a buffet breakfast and lunch. Fresh seafood features alongside various meat dishes and pasta options. Dinner is served at Kaloa which has a more intimate setting. There is a good variety of dishes available, a fusion of traditional and Rapa Nui cusine.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome.
Health: There is no malaria on Easter Island.
Communication: There is free wifi internet access in public areas.

Hangaroa Eco Village has a commitment to give back to the local community, all their excursions are handled by the local tour company Mahintur. The current owners are working with the Rapa Nui people in order to transfer ownership to a local foundation by 2050.
