Explora Rapa Nui is just a short drive from the airport, so soon after landing you can be relaxing and enjoying your new surroundings on Easter Island. The building is an impressive piece of architecture, and has made use of recycled materials, and hugs the hillside that leads down to the ocean. From within the large windows enable you to take in the magnificent views.
While here you are encouraged to explore the island in all its facets, admiring its scenery and learning about its history and culture. Each day you select your choice of the 30 plus half and full-day excursions which range in levels of difficulty and include hiking, biking, boat rides and snorkelling. The hotel has a well trained team of guides who lead each activity, their knowledge and enthusiasm adds to your enjoyment.
Spacious rooms and suites have picture windows so you can enjoy ocean views from dawn to dusk. Each has a modern en-suite bathroom and air conditioning, though the clever use of natural air flow minimises the need for the latter.
When not out exploring you can socialise with other guests in the lounge and bar, enjoy a swim in the pool and ease any tired muscles and limbs in the jacuzzi or with a massage. In line with Explora’s culinary philosophy, the hotel uses fresh local produce to create light and healthy meals that set you up perfectly for the activities ahead.
At Explora all excursions, food and local drinks are included in your stay, leaving you free to do nothing more than enjoy and make the most of your time at the hotel and on Easter Island.

Location: Explora Rapa Nui is 8kms from Hanga Roa, the capital of Easter Island and location of its sole airport, Mata Veri. The flight from Santiago on the mainland takes about 5 hours, and the transfer to the hotel takes about 20 minutes. The hotel arranges airport transfers.
Rooms: The hotel has 30 rooms, all en-suite and air conditioned. Rooms do not have TVs or Wi-Fi, as the emphasis is on relaxation and escaping everyday routines and preoccupations. There are 26 varua rooms, each with 32sqm of space, picture windows and window seats with sea views. Each of the 4 raa suites covers 44sqm and has a table and chairs and a large bay window with window seat and panoramic views towards the ocean. Bathrooms have a shower, bath and twin hand basins.
Activities: There are over 30 excursions involving many activities such as hiking, cycling, snorkelling, diving and boating, varying in level of difficulty and duration with half-day and full day trips available. They take in varied landscapes, archaeological sites, history, culture and wildlife especially bird watching. Excursions are led by a professional guide and have a maximum group size of 8 guests. You can also visit a local beach independently, by taxi or bike. Most of the staff are local to the island and are happy to share their traditions and culture with guests. Excursions are included in your stay.
Facilities: There is a restaurant, bar, lounge and library. Recreational facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, jacuzzi and spa. The hotel has a shop where you can buy clothing, outdoor gear, books and handicrafts.
Dining: Meals are nutritious to provide energy, and light so that you feel comfortable to undertake activities. Chilean and other wines are available. Food and local drinks are included in your stay.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome. Children aged under 4 stay free of charge when sharing the room with parents. A cot or extra bed can be provided for a child aged up to 12 years.
Health: There is no malaria on Easter Island.
Communication: There is free Wi-Fi internet access in the reception area. There is no mobile phone coverage on Easter Island, but the hotel has a landline guests can use (pay locally).
