Pousada Picinguaba is a lovely 10-room hotel located on Brazil's stunning forested coastline between Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. It is in Cerra do Mar state part, a pristine environment including beaches and rainforest. This is a wonderful location to relax or use as a base to explore the surrounding area, and a spectacular honeymoon suite makes Picinguaba a perfect spot for honeymooners.
The rooms overlook tropical gardens that surround the spring-fed swimming pool, and most have a private balcony. The food served at Piousada Picinguaba is plentiful and local. This is a very relaxed 'rustic chic' hotel. A tranquil place to recharge your batteries (natural spa) or to use as a base to explore the area. Take the hotel's schooner to deserted islands and beaches, accompany a local guide through the rainforest to spectacular hidden waterfalls, visit beautiful Paraty half an hour away, dive, fish, surf, or sea kayak.

Location: Pousada Picinguaba is about 20 miles south of Paraty and 3.5 hours by car from Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo. It is in the state park, Cerra do Mar, an area of unspoilt natural beauty including rainforest and beach.
Rooms: There are 10 rooms in total, double or twin, all en-suite, some of which can take an extra bed. These include a honeymoon suite with an en-suite jacuzzi and a large balcony. The pousada accommodates a maximum of 24 guests. 9 of the rooms have a private balcony with a hammock. There are no TVs, phones or internet access.
Activities: The pousada offers a wide range of outdoor activities, such as guided hikes in the rainforest, schooner cruises to local islands, walking to local villages, scuba diving and water skiing. Arrange and pay for these locally. Guests can also spend time with local fishermen and go horse riding in the rainforest. Visits to Paraty can be arranged.
Facilities: The pousada has a restaurant open for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Meals are prepared using the produce from their own farm and fresh fish and seafood from the ocean. There is a living room with a range of books, games and DVDs.
Dining: Meals are taken at individual tables.
Children: Children of all ages are welcome.
Health: This is not a malarial area.
Communication: There is no Wi-Fi internet access at the pousada.
Water-saving is hugely important here as they rely on rainwater only. This small hotel is also great at energy-saving, and they believe in helping their local community and environment too. People making this amount of effort, will certainly be making sure you have a great holiday!
