This quirky pousada has a nice location close to the quay (and alongside a Thai restaurant!). There are 6 ensuite rooms, with 3 standards and 3 themed rooms, including a Japanese room. Three of the rooms face over the bay, and 3 over the town. All rooms have air conditioning, safety deposit box, TV (Brazilian channels only) and queen or king size beds. There is a minibar in the hall outside the rooms. Two of the standard rooms have balconies with either a hammock or chair. The stairs are quite steep leading to the rooms. The rooms are comfortable but compact and a couple have quite low, sloping roofs. The pousada has a bar/lounge, breakfast room and yoga deck. No outside footwear is permitted inside the pousada, but slippers are available at the front door.

Location: Pousada Arte Urquijo is located in the historical centre of Paraty next to Santa Rita Church. There are beaches within walking distance.
Rooms: There are 6 suites, individually decorated with local artwork, some the owner’s work, and with panoramic views of the town, mountains or the sea. Facilities include air conditioning, TV and DVD player, safe and minibar. Some rooms have private balconies.
Activities: Hotel staff can arrange guided trips to the Atlantic forest, waterfalls, beaches and islands in the bay. Guests can explore the sites, shops and cafes of Paraty on foot or hire bikes to venture further afield.
Facilities: The pousada has a several outdoor terraces with hammocks and great views and a plunge pool. The library has a collection of fiction, art books and classical music. There is a cosy lounge. A permanent exhibition is on display in the art gallery. The bar sells local and imported drinks. A European-style buffet breakfast is served each morning.
Dining: Breakfast is taken at separate tables.
Children: Children aged 13 and over are welcome.
Health: Paraty is not a malarial area.
Communication: Tere is free Wi-Fi interent access in public areas.
Notes: The owner does not like guests to wear shoes in the pousada but provides a pair of slippers which guests can keep after their stay.
