During your trek in Joatingha Reserve you overnight in different local villages. The houses where you stay are have been specially constructed for tourists to use. The accommodation they provide is basic but comfortable, with bedrooms sleeping up to 2 people, and a shared bathroom with hot and cold running water. Interiors are decorated in cheerful colours and have a welcoming feel.
Houses have terraces or gardens with seating areas where you can relax after a day out walking. Dinner is included and is usually a seafood dish typical to the region, served either at the house or a local restaurant. The next morning, after a good night's sleep, you are treated to a generous breakfast spread, to give you the energy for the trek ahead.
Open: The community houses are open all year.
Location: The houses are located in the coastal villages of Montanha and Ponte Negra in the Joatinga Reserve on the Costa Verde.
Rooms: Each house has a number of bedrooms, simple and comfortable.
Activities: The houses are the accommodation for the Joatinga trekking trail, which leads through coastal forest and links villages and beaches, with time for swimming and meeting local people.
Facilities: There is one shared bathroom per house. Bed linen and towels are provided. Each house has a garden and a shaded seating area.
Dining: Breakfast is provided at each house, with dinner either at the house or a local restaurant. Lunch is eaten en-route to the next destination during the trek.
Children: The minimum age for the Joatinga trekking trail is 16 years.
Health: Joatinga is a low to no risk malarial area.
Communication: There is no Wi-Fi internet access.
