This gorgeous mansion, built in the 1930s, was one the residence of the Governor of the State of Rio. Today it's a friendly guest house, run by a multilingual family who also live on site.
The three en-suite guest rooms are located in a separate wing of the main house so you have privacy. Hidden away in the well established lush gardens you'll find additional accommodation at The Villa with a roof terrace and The Bungalow with its own balcony. The owners will give you a warm welcome, and leave you in peace, but they are on hand to share their tips and ideas on Rio's hidden gems. Each room is different, decorated with antiques, brightly coloured statement walls, retro furniture and unique pieces of art and sculptures made by local modern artisans. The downstairs rooms have beautiful hardwood floors and windows that look out onto the swimming pool and gardens. The upstairs charming loft space with its eclectic and funky decor is complete with air conditioning.
The small tropical gardens are a delight and a nice spot to spend a little time relaxing. Hummingbirds, toucans and even small monkeys make their home here among the well established palm and fruit trees. Within a few minutes' walk you'll be immersed in the heart of the Bohemian suburb of Santa Teresa where you'll find a plethora of restaurants, bars, museums and music venues. The main sights of the city are all within reach via a short taxi ride, so you can experience both the tourist side of Rio and life as it is for locals while staying at Casa Beleza.
