Los Cauquenes Resort and Spa, built on the shores of the Beagle Channel, lies just 7km from Ushuaia, at the southernmost tip of Argentina. The building is constructed of natural wood and stone in a style typical of the area. The large windows make the most of the Patagonian landscapes, with the Beagle Channel on one side and the dramatic snow-capped peaks of the Andes on the other.
There are 54 rooms and suites at Los Cauquenes, across a variety of standards. Each one is tastefully decorated with subtle tones and wooden furniture. Most rooms have views of the Beagle Channel or the Andes mountains.
The restaurant has large windows capitalising on the views, some tables look out to the channel and others to the mountains. There's also a bar with an inviting crackling fire, a well-stocked wine cellar with over 100 Argentinian wines, there's a spa, sauna, jacuzzi, fitness centre and a pool. The glass covered winter garden is a delight, enjoy a pre-dinner drink as the light begins to fade, and watch the calm waters of the Beagle Channel as they change colour.
When you are not admiring the views there are plenty of activities for guests to enjoy. These include walking, hiking, visits to Tierra del Fuego National Park, fine dining aboard the Akawaia boat, cookery classes to hone your skills at preparing Fuegian cuisine. The hotel also runs complimentary shuttles to Ushuaia where you can explore the small shops, restaurants and bars.
