- We had expected to meet quite a few other tour boats on this cruise, and were amazed to find a virtual absence of ANY other biggish boats. This really emphasised the remote, pristine and vast character of Amazonia in the best possible way. Every day there were 4 explorations by outboard canoes exploring side contributories or going for jungle walks. The trails were designed by Souza or Eddy, our guides to show us many interesting plants and features of the rainforest, including singing to ants and using them as insect repellent...Getting back to Manaus on the 8th day was almost a culture shock.
