The art of travelling with respect

The Fair Trade Travel™ company

Insurance

At Tribes Travel we believe that your safety and holiday enjoyment are very important. Therefore comprehensive travel insurance is a must whenever you travel abroad. It is a mistake to think that it will never happen to you.

Adequate travel insurance is compulsory for travel with Tribes. We sell a very good and extensive policy with high levels of cover and many good features that other policies do not include, and therefore we are confident in recommending it, though you are not obliged to buy it. You must, however, be covered for £2-5 million for medical and repatriation.  Any medical issues need to be discussed with the insurers before taking out the insurance. Failure to tell them about any condition can jeopardise any claim you may need to make.  Most insurance policies include cancellation cover, and we strongly recommend that you take out your insurance as soon as you pay for your holiday in case you are unable to travel due to health reasons.

We have arranged a comprehensive travel insurance with AXA Insurance UK Plc (Registration No 202312. Authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Registered address 107 Cheapside, London EC2V 6DU. This can be checked="checked" on the FSA’s register by visiting the FSA’s website at www.fsa.gov.uk/register or by contacting them on 0845 606 1234).

Health
The Insurance contains conditions that relate to your health and that of others not necessarily travelling with you but upon whose well being the trip may depend. In particular, pre existing medical problems are not covered unless the Medical Helpline is contacted on: 0870 906 3140

Policy Document
This contains the full details of what is and is not covered. Please read it carefully to ensure you understand the cover provided. Should you wish a specimen, a copy will be made available prior to purchase upon request.

Conditions, Exclusions and Warranties
These limit or restrict the cover provided. Some apply to all sections of the insurance whilst others only apply to specific sections.

Complaints
This Insurance contains a procedure which you should follow if you wish to make a complaint.

Claims for Personal Baggage
This Insurance does not provide cover on a 'new for old' basis, which means that deductions for age, wear and tear will be made where appropriate.

Date Recognition Failure
The Insurance contains an exclusion for some losses arising from the failure of equipment to correctly recognise the calendar date, such as the change to the year 2000.

Sums Insured or Limits
All sections of the Insurance have a limit on the amount the Insurer will pay. Some sections have internal limits such as the amount the Insurer will pay for any one item or the amount of all valuables (including photographic equipment)

High Risk Activities
The Insurance may not cover you when you take part in certain activities not organised through Tribes Travel. You must check that the Insurance covers your requirements.

Excesses
Under most sections of the Insurance, claims will be subject to an excess of £50. This means you will be responsible for paying part of the claim.

"Cooling Off Period"
If the Insurance does not meet your requirements you may return the documentation within 14 days of the purchase or prior to travel if this is sooner and, provided no claim has been made, obtain a refund.

Reasonable Care
You are required to take all reasonable care of yourself and your property and to act at all times as though you are not insured.

Jurisdiction
The Insurance will be subject to English Law unless otherwise agreed.
