If you want to see elephants, head to Botswana's Chobe River this month!  The flowers in South Africa's Namaqualand should be in bloom from later August to early September. 

  1. Botswana

    • Excellent time to visit the Okavango Delta.
    • High concentration of elephants in Chobe National Park.
  2. Brazil

    • Iguazu Falls is excellent this month.
    • The Pantanal is especially good for wildlife at this time, particularly for water birds.
    • Southern Right Whales are seen near Praia da Rosa (boat trips).
  3. Ecuador

    • Humpback Whales can be seen off the coast near Puerto Lopez.
    • The rainforest near Kapawi it is good for caiman, capybara, pink dolphins, and also the clay licks tend to be busy.
  4. Galapagos

    • Penguins and sealions are particularly active
    • Red & Masked Boobies breed until about July (especially good on Genovesa)
  5. Kenya

    • The annual wildbeest migration is in the Masai Mara. One of the world'’s best wildlife spectacles.
  6. Lesotho

    • It is dry and cool in Lesotho, making it a pleasant time for visits.
  7. Peru

    • Peak seasons for bird spotting at the clay licks.
    • Also a good month for seeing Cock of the Rock birds.
  8. South Africa

    • Land-based whale watching off the Cape (mostly Southern Right Whales).
    • In Namaqualand in early September the flowers should be in bloom in the desert.
    • This is a good birding month in South Africa.
  9. Tanzania

    • This is peak season for both Ruaha NP and Selous Game Reserve. Excellent wildlife viewing.
    • One of the best months to visit Tarangire National Park due to its permanent water source attracting wildlife from a huge region of northern Tanzania.
  10. Zambia

    • One of the best months for South Luangwa. 
    • Walking safaris available.
    • The Busanga Plains in Kafue NP are accessible.
    • Good time for rafting at Victoria Falls.
