October

Ruaha, Selous and Tarangire in Tanzania are all still excellent places to visit in October. Summer migrants begin to arrive in South Luangwa, Zambia, and it's a good month to spot Cock of the Rock birds in Peru. The good trekking in Nepal begins again this month, and the Galapagos Islands are fabulous - as always.

   Brazil

   • Iguazu Falls is excellent this month.
   • Southern Right Whales are seen near Praia da Rosa (boat trips).
2. 

   Ecuador

   • In the rainforest near Kapawi it is good for caiman, capybara, pink dolphins.
   • Clay licks tends to be well-visited.
3. 

   Galapagos

   • Galapagos Fur Seals begin mating.
4. 

   Lesotho

   • It is dry and cool in Lesotho, making it a pleasant time for visits.
5. 

   Morocco

   • The climate in Morocco is beginning to cool down, making it a good time to visit.
6. 

   Nepal

   • Excellent month for trekking.
7. 

   Peru

   • Peak seasons for bird spotting at the clay licks.
   • Also a good month for seeing Cock of the Rock birds.
8. 

   South Africa

   • Land-based whale watching off the Cape (mostly Southern Right Whales).
   • This is a good birding month in South Africa.
9. 

   Tanzania

   • This is peak season for both Ruaha NP and Selous Game Reserve.
   • Excellent wildlife viewing.
   • One of the best months to visit Tarangire National Park due to its permanent water source attracting wildlife from a huge region of northern Tanzania.
10. 

    Zambia

    • One of the best months for South Luangwa. 
    • Walking safaris available.
    • The Busanga Plains in Kafue NP are accessible.
    • Good time for rafting at Victoria Falls.
    • Summer migrant birds arrive in South Luangwa.
