    7. We needed to fit into exact dates due to work etc, Paul our organiser managed to fit everything we wanted into 5 days/6 nights on budget and on the dates we needed. A really personal and attentive service. Thanks!

    11. We had two different guides, one for the North, (who was extremely knowledgeable) and another for the South. They had very different styles. The first guide was older and traditional. We had interesting discussions re the place of women in society. The second guide was younger and represented the push for development, education and modernisation within a traditional framework. He (Mohamed) went out of his way to tailor each day to our wishes, showing us local life.

    13. We travelled by air and car so....
However in the hotels there was much less waste than here and everyone was careful re litter.
I worry about the stress on natural resources, especially water, that tourism puts on a country like Jordan, but am aware it is an enormous industry.

    15. Bus/transport infrastructure is poor, which means you really need a guide. Speaking to people who were travelling independently I gathered it was amongst the most difficult countries to negotiate, you end up staying in the same tourist hotels as everyone, and they wished they had taken a private guide.

    3. I would have preferred smaller more local/intimate hotels, but everything seems to be organised for package tours.

    3. Make sure you go for a private camp if you don't want to be woken by others. Speaking to people on a package tour everyone else detracted from this experience.
Tribes Reply: Tribes agrees that the public camps used by package tours are not good quality, and always arrange private camps for our passengers.

    2. Food in the hotels was bland westernised buffets for package tours. Local street food and camping was by far the best and truly delicious.

    2. You need several days. One to get a brief overview and others to target specific sites. Beware of heat stoke even in March!
