The organisation was excellent and very reliable which was absolutely crucial to this sort of holiday. We found India challenging and were very glad of local help and expertise.

Very personal service and we particularly appreciated the first-hand experience of our advisors. This gave us a great deal of confidence before travelling
Expectations

We hoped to see plenty of wildlife and indeed we did! Eleven tigers, a leopard, sloth bears, wild dogs, jungle cats, blue bulls, sambar deer and so on - plus lots of bird-life. The level of luxury in the places we stayed exceeded our expectations but was very welcome given the amount of travelling we did and the culture shock we inevitably experienced in some parts.

In Agra we had Yogesh who was brilliant - very knowledgeable about the area but also very practical in his help - at the Taj Mahal - Stand here for the best shot - Quick come this way before the crowds get here - all very helpful. Great English. In Jaipur we had Dilip with whom we are still in touch. He very kindly talked to us about the sites we visited but also about his culture and beliefs which was really very interesting. Both of the above put us on to very nice local restaurants. In Chandigarh we had Vicky who started out being quite apologetic that there wasn't that much to see in the city but once he realised we were very interested in the architecture, he was great and showed us some good stuff. Again, was willing to discuss all sorts of other stuff which was fascinating. All of the drivers were extremely skilled which is perhaps as well as the roads are potentially lethal to all concerned! The cars were delightfully comfortable.

People we spoke to were very happy to have us there - one chap even said ~Thank you for coming to India - he who dares wins! which made us laugh. We made some good friends in a short space of time and visited a local school with our guide in one park, as well as going to his home to meet his family. This sort of contact can only be positive I think. The trip really raised our awareness of issues facing India, its people and its environment/wildlife.
Of the three game park resorts we stayed in my favourite was probably Nature Heritage at Bandhavgarh just because it was very intimate and guests were encouraged to mix by sitting them at tables together in the evening - lovely for those travelling alone. It was also very close to the park which was great. Raj the owner came out on a couple of drives with us and was very knowledgeable as you had said - he told amazing stories and lent us a lovely book whilst we there.
Tuli Tiger Resort though was also lovely - more luxurious with a nice pool and very impressive chairs everywhere! Great staff and the fact that we had the same naturalist guide, Shail Kumar Gop, throughout the stay was nice as we quickly became friends. The picnic breakfasts in the game park were a highlight as our guide found some rather nice secluded spots to eat them!
We were surprised (though on reflection we shouldn't have been) by the amount of sitting down we did on this holiday. Many hours in cars and train and then of course as many again in the jeeps of the game parks - I sort of forgot that you couldn't get out and walk about. If we were doing this again, we would try to factor in a bit more exercise time as we are used to doing lots of walking.
