    8. Faultless, kept informed all the way and any questions I had were answered fully, politely and with sincere knowledge and understanding.

    10. Didn't dare build up my expectations too much as this holiday had been 20 years coming but . . . once we got over the dreadful sea-sickness, it was fabulous, so many highlights that we didn't consider, for example, snorkelling with a turtle, seeing up the 'blow-hole' of a whale as it snorted past, sails on the ship put up on my birthday - how many ordinary people get to do that on their 50th eh?

    12. Ivan, our driver in Ecuador was a real Gent, filled us with confidence and although he did not speak much, he obviously understood everything. The pick-up people in Quito were very polite and well-informed. Our only worrying moment was being left in the hands of a porter when we were dropped at Quito for our connection to Baltra, fortunately someone found us but not before one of our tickets had been given to someone else which DIDN'T fill us with confidence ....
The guides in the Galapagos, Carolina & Alex, were excellent, well informed, amazingly patient and spoke very, very good English.

    14. I would like to think that the cost went some way in assisting the preservation of such a delicately balanced environment.
    15. Other comments

    16. The Cloudforest experience in Ecuador was also terrific, particularly the trip to the Hummingbird House which our guide Juan just sprung upon us. Well worth it.

However, the one BIG disappointment which would put me off doing anything like this again was the fact that young children were on the [Galapgos] trip. The Galapagos is a place full of very cute but potentially dangerous animals at head height to small children and it seems irresponsible to allow a three and four year old to get so close and expect them not to touch or scream. Fortunately there were plenty of photo opportunities and two guides so we could avoid the tantrums on shore but having breakfast, lunch and dinner in the close confines of the ship with loud, ill-mannered toddlers was not something I had catered for.

    3. Can't recommend this highly enough! The excellent organisation and expert guides obviously assisted in getting the most from the trip but these islands are FANTASTIC on so many levels, the topography, biodiversity, terrain, not to mention the wildlife!
