    6. We loved the whole trip. Its not for those seeking a relaxed, lazy holiday. It is for those seeking the refreshment of the different and reminds us how lucky we are.

    12. We had three guides. Two were excellent one less good. He was unwell and his command of English was not as good as the other two.

    14. We were rather worried, given the ethos of Tribes, that we were often the only people on forms of transport (huge mini buses and the boat on Lake Titicaca) and the diesel engine on the tourist train from Cusco to Puna (which we loved) was filthy spewing great clouds of fumes across the countryside.

    16. I didn't know why I have wanted to go to Peru for so many years. Now I've been, I do. Thank you Tribes.

    3. The home was far less basic than we had been told. The bed had a mattress and there was a flush lavatory. With or without these facilities the experience was what mattered. The 4 year old son in my family was called Beckham. I've still not recovered from that and his father said that any second son would be called Peres!

    3. Very comfortable hotel in a style we like. That is not all glass and steel. The staff were helpful and friendly. Nice touch that bottled water was available on the corridor.

    3. We had our one unfortunate experience here. The dovet's were, to be honest, filthy under the clean sheets. We asked for them to be changed. The request was ignored.

    3. Susan was ill at this hotel. They were most accommodating and managed to give us the room for an extra night which greatly eased her discomfort. I went to the island alone.

    3. Lovely hotel. In an ideal world we would have like the option of lunch on the second day rather than dinner the night we arrived.

    3. I loved it but I'm not sure it would suit everyone. There is a danger that the families are a bit like circus performers. I felt that some of the visitors did not show sufficient respect for the fact that we were in their homes. One Italian couple sat in an island restaurant eating the picnic food they had brought. I wonder how this would go down in Rome.

    3. Can anything more be said about Machu Picchu? We have learnt so little and a place like this reminds us of our own limitations and our arrogance.

    3. Do you know we hardly took any notice of these on the itinery. How wrong we were. The Paracas National Park is stunning. We really had difficulty in deciding whether, if we could only return to one place, it would be here or Machu Picchu.

    3. With the above reservation about pollution, we loved this trip. It gave us such an idea of the semi desert Peruvians have to contend with and the size of the country. Slightly surreal being in our luxurious bubble through their grindingly difficult land but we enjoyed it surprising the other travellors when we danced La Bamba with the band!
