I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from it all. You basically have 2 options on Mauritiues - big resort with loads of people or a quiet getaway. If you go for the 2nd option then La Maison D'ete is PERFECT. Highly recommended. The staff are brilliant, efficient and courteous. You don;t get bothered at all. The restaurant is fantastic - really good value for money and the coktails are out of this world.
What we really liked about the place was that it was quite and relaxing, we were the only people on the beach for most of the time. The lagoon in front of the hotel is perfect for snorkeling and is very safe the water hardly ever gets deeper than neck deep and the water is warm and calm. Kayaks, snorkelling equipment and bicycles are all available free of charge which is a great perk.
If you want to hire a car, which we did, all you have to do is ask and they will organise one at exceptionally cheap rates. This is a great way to explore the island.
