The Tribes Foundation

The Tribes Foundation is a registered UK charity whose principle aim is to relieve the poverty of indigenous communities in areas outside of the UK which are affected by tourism.

The charity backs poverty alleviation, education, cultural preservation and conservation projects within these regions.

The charity was set up by the directors of Tribes, the Fair Trade Travel™ company in 2003. It has two trustees (Guy and Amanda Marks), who apply the following aims to the charity’s funds:

1. The relief of poverty of indigenous communities in areas impacted by tourism outside of the United Kingdom.
2. The advancement of education of indigenous communities in areas impacted by tourism outside of the UK.
3. To promote and preserve cultural heritage and ecological bio-diversity for the public benefit in areas impacted by tourism outside of the UK, by the provision of financial assistance.
