Jordan has only a small strip of coast adjacent to the Red Sea, but this are has good beaches and is rich in marine life. The small town of Aqaba is Jordan'’s only port and has several good hotels and restaurants. The waters of the Red Sea are famous for their unspoilt coral reefs, and this area is great for snorkeling and diving. The Red Sea is an ideal location to spend a few days relaxing after exploring the riches of the rest of the country.

Situation

In the south of Jordan.

Getting there

It is about 3 hours drive from Amman to Aqaba along the Desert Highway, and less from Petra or Wadi Rum. There are also domestic flights from Aqaba to Amman to connect with international flights.

Best time

October to May. The weather in the winter is much warmer than the rest of the country, although summers can be very hot.

Health

There are no compulsory vaccinations.
