Dolphin Coast

This is a coastal region

The Dolphin Coast (or North Coast) is north of Durban in South Africa's KwaZulu Natal. It is known for its great sandy beaches and the numerous dolphins found offshore.  It runs from just south of Ballito to the Tugela River below St Lucia.

Whilst the beaches here are very good indeed, this is not an area of coastline which Tribes readily recommends, as the choice of accommodation here is not particularly good. This stretch of coast tends to attract more local than international visitors.

It is a very good surfing area.

Highlights

  • Wide sandy beaches.
  • Excellent surfing.
