Country: Tanzania

Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "Excellent"

Tribes Service: "Excellent"

Guides: "We did not have a guide"

Social & Environmental Responsibility: "I am not sure how much the local people benefit from all the money spent by tourists like us. Tanzanians work for the lodges and hotels we stayed at but the owners are foreigners."

Accommodation

The Zanzibari
Very nice small hotel, excellent food and service, great location. A downside for us was the lack of interaction with the locals. We seeked it and when it happened we had three very good experiences (much cheaper than the tours organised by the hotel, with locals who could speak well English and who gave us a lot of information about their region/village), but it was not encouraged/promoted by the hotel.

Sable Mountain Lodge
Good location although outside the game reserve and very friendly staff and manager. The boat safari was a great experience.

Mdonya Old River
The best memory of the trip - we would have liked to stay longer as the cam is really fantastic. The Ruaha Park is so rich in wildlife that we were never driving for long without seeing game. Our guides and drivers were very knowledgeable and friendly. The general atmosphere is quiet and relaxed and everything seemed to go smoothly (although the logistics in sucha place must be a permanent challenge).

Dhow Palace
Only one night but enough to appreciate the very friendly staff, the beautiful building and furnitures/decorations, the good location is Stonetown and to enjoy the pool.
