Holiday review by Sue Holloway

Date of trip: 25/01/2013
Number of people: 2
Country: Tanzania

Overall level of Satisfaction

Tribes Overall: "The safari element really lived up to our expectations, but Zanzibar was a little disappointing, especially the very run down state of Stone Town when our duaghter had told us how much she'd liked it; I think her memories are out of date! If I'd known there were such strong winds in the NE I would have chosen to stay elsewhere."

Tribes Service: "Tracy gave us Rolls Royce service and was always available to discuss plans and answer queries."

Guides: "Our guide on safari Dotto was excellent; informative, receptive to our wishes; found us quiet corners in the crater away from the crowds."

Social & Environmental Responsibility: "Good"

Accommodation

Onsea House
Great location; wonderful food

Kirurumu Manyara Lodge
It was late when we arrived and our tent was a long way away. The food was good though maybe we were still tired from the journey. The bar area is lovely, with views of the lake and the Rift Valley

Ndutu Safari Lodge
Lots of bird life around the lodge. The genets are a interesting curiosity---our 2nd night there were 5. Food pretty good, accommodation adequate rather than luxurious, but the location is the key here

Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge
Can't think of a single adverse comment

The Seyyida Hotel
WE had a lovely room, large and comfortable. Dinner on the rooftop terrace overlooking the sea was magical. Then they let themselves down by forgetting our wake up call, fairly crucial since we had a 5 a.m. pick up, and then the promised breakfast packages were nowhere to be seen when we left.

Our Memories

"A family of cheetahs finishing their impala lunch in the Serengeti"
"Breakfast with the hippos almost at our feet in the Ngorogoro crater. Wonderful for my hippo addicted hippo fan!"
