Tafika Camp is situated adjacent to the Nsefu sector of South Luangwa National Park. It is the base camp for Remote Africa Safaris, owned and run by John and Carol Coppinger. As well as game drives, Tafika offers walking safaris, cycling and even microlighting.
The remote location is ideal for those who really want to get away from it all. Located on the banks of the Luangwa River, Tafika offers a relaxing and peaceful base from which to enjoy game viewing on foot and by road. The camp is located just outside the park and offers night drives as well as morning and afternoon game drives. There is a huge variety of birdlife which can be observed from the hides around the camp. For the adventurous, there is the chance of a taking a microlight flight with John, to view the area and wildlife from the air. Visits can be arranged to the nearby village and school that the camp helps to support.
There are 6 spacious reed chalets accommodating a maximum of 12 guests. These are built with local materials and have en-suite facilities, including an open air shower. Shaded from the hot noon-day sun by giant Leadwood trees, there are plenty of quiet spots to sit and watch activity on the river where elephants and hippos are frequent visitors, read, or just relax and listen to the sounds of the bush. The food is excellent and utilises fresh fruit and vegetables from the kitchen garden.
