About Kalamu Lagoon Camp

  • Close Panel

Kalamu Lagoon Camp (previously known as Kwena Lagoon) is set in the private Luamfwa Concession in the southern part of South Luangwa National Park, famed for its rich variety of game. The 8 safari-style tents are all ensuite with both indoor and outdoor showers. The central dining and bar area is set under a grove of shady ebony trees and is a great place to unwind. The viewing deck and pool have views of the lagoon.

Activities include guided game walks exploring the local environment and both day and night game drives, to view the resident game which includes elephant, buffalo, antelope. lion, leopard and wild dog. The area is also home to Thornicroft's girrafe and Cookson's wildebeest, which are unique to this region.

This camp is in a wild, remote area to the far south of South Luangwa National Park and must be accessed in and out of Kalamu airstrip, it is not possible to road transfer from Mfuwe. Note that whilst a fabulous walking area and perfect for linking with the Kalamu Walking Trails, Kalamu Lagoon Camp is also suitable for family safaris at the main camp where there are family rooms.

Pricing guidelines for Zambia

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless airlines have special offers). Zambia combines well with Malawi and Botswana.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
