About Kapinga Camp

  • Close Panel

Kapinga Camp is one of Wilderness Safaris Premier camps and set under huge shady trees on the edge of Busanga Plains in Northern Kafue.

The camp blends easilly into the environment having been built as much as possible from natural products. There are just four luxury tented rooms, all are lovely and spacious with both indoor and outdoor showers. The tents and the main area are all shaded by a canopy of majestic trees and on raised wooden platforms to enhance the panoramic view across the plains. Lively colours and stripes characterise the main area, comprising a lounge, dining area, camp fire and small pool under a shady tree. At night the camp provides a cosy ambience lit with many lamps and candles.

Day and night drives and walks can be enjoyed here on the surrounding plains areas. Huge herds of buffalo can be seen on the plains along with many roan, an unsual antelope. There is a good population of cheetah and wild dog and the resident Busanga pride of lions are always not far away.

Pricing guidelines for Zambia

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless airlines have special offers). Zambia combines well with Malawi and Botswana.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150

I visited Kapinga whilst in Kafue but they had just closed for the season, so it was hard to see what the rooms would be like fully furnished. But it's a superb camp and I really loved the central dining area in particular.  The only thing I felt was that it's quite dark, surrouned by very tall trees.  If you like forest then it's great, but if you want views over the plains, go for Shumba Camp (Kapinga's sister camp) instead.
