    Robin Pope Safaris

Robin Pope Safaris have a number of excellent and highly personalised camps situated through the Luangwa Valley - Nkwali Camp, Nsefu Camp and Tena Tena.  From the camps you can take first rate game drives and night drives, and walks through the bush led by an experienced naturalist and accompanied by an armed game scout. Robin Pope Safaris do what they do extremely well.

They also operate a range of mobile walking safaris, on which you walk to different temporary camps and bush camps. This is one of the most exciting and rewarding ways to immerse yourself in a true experience of the African bush.

We can help you plan a safari with Robin Pope Safaris. Let us know when you want to go and for how long, and we'll arrange the best available experience for you.

If you want to see some stunning photos from South Luangwa Valley, there is a wonderful coffee table book by Robin Pope Safaris. It is called 'Safari Dreaming' and you can see it in our ethical living shop.

    Best time

The dry season from May to November is when wildlife begins to congregate at the dwindling water sources, offering good viewing opportunities. October is the hottest month, with temperatures sometimes reaching 40°C or more. November to April is known as the 'green season', with rain almost every day, normally in short downpours. Birdwatching is at its best and many of the herds have young with them. The vegetation is thicker, and there is less dust.

    Getting there

There are several direct flights each week from Europe to Lusaka. It is about a 10 hr flight. There are also daily flights to Johannesburg (South Africa). We can arrange the internationals from the UK and all connecting flights. Most journeys in Zambia involve internal flights as road travel is difficult on poor roads and is not recommended in most cases. There is a good network of internal scheduled flights and charters.Return flights to Lusaka from the UK start from about £500.

    Pricing guidelines for Zambia

    • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless airlines have special offers). Zambia combines well with Malawi and Botswana.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
