About Sussi and Chuma

  • Close Panel

Sussi and Chuma is named after David Livingstone's companions and is made up of a gorgeous rustic luxury lodge (Sussi) and two exclusive-use houses (Chuma) set on the dramatic Upper Zambezi River, near Livingstone.

Sussi Lodge consists of 12 luxury tree houses built into the tree lined bank of the Zambezi, all with private viewing decks among the branches. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with shower and bath, air conditioning, overhead fans, mosquito nets, mini bar and hairdryer.

The central lodge has a raised bar and lounge decking area and an open air dining space. There is a river-edge swimming pool, Africology spa and curio shop.

Chuma consists of two self-contained houses, each having 2 en-suite bedrooms (one double, one twin so ideal for families) and a living area with their own kitchen and private chef. Each house has it's own private guide and vehicle for activities. There is also a spacious lounge and dining room area plus outdoor deck and barbeque area with private plunge pool.

The 'wet' season here is normally December to March with the main thick spray on the falls shortly after during April - May. The 'dry' season runs from May to November with June to August being coolest. October - December the rock formations at the falls are really interesting as the water slows down.

Activities here include game viewing in Mosi-oa-Tunya park where you can see elephants, giraffe, buffalo and rhino amongst other species. Sunset and morning boat cruises, fishing and visits to various local attractions can also be arranged. The lodge also offers a guided visit to Victoria Falls. Please note the hertiage entry fee (currently $20 per person) needs to be paid direct to the lodge for this visit.

Pricing guidelines for Zambia

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless airlines have special offers). Zambia combines well with Malawi and Botswana.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
