    About Songwe Village

    • Close Panel

Songwe Village is located on 300 acres of private land adjoining the world heritage site downstream from the Victoria Falls. Songwe Village is on the Zambia side of the Zambezi River and is perched 300 feet above the rugged Batoka gorge. Songwe Village is built to resemble a traditional village and the atmosphere is just as peaceful and relaxed. There are 8 guest huts in an oval pattern, each named after past chiefs of the local Mukuni people.

The thatched huts are spacious with tasteful traditional furniture and modern comfortable mattresses. Each hut has a flush toilet and basin en-suite. The showers and baths are set on the edge of the Batoka gorge so have stunning views.

Activities offered include guided visits to the Victoria Falls, visits to a traditonal Tokaleya village, cruises on the upper Zambezi River, game safaris, walking, canoeing and fishing.

NB: Sadly, Songwe Village suffered a serious fire in September 2008 and sales have been suspended - we do not know if it will re-open.

    Pricing guidelines for Zambia

    • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless airlines have special offers). Zambia combines well with Malawi and Botswana.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
