About Shiwa Ngandu

  • Close Panel

Shiwa Ngandu is a large farming estate established in the 1920s in a remote part of Northern Zambia. It was established by Sir Stewart Gore-Brown in the style of an English stately home, using local materials and craftsmen. The estate is a fully functional farm stocked with cattle, sheep and horses.

Guests staying here can enjoy a range of outdoor activities including horse-riding for experienced riders, game drives and walks, boating on the lake and visits to local community projects and historical sites.

There are 5 double rooms, accommodating up to 10 guests. Guests have the run of the house, which includes access to Sir Stewart's library. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable. There are open fires throughout the house. The food is simple, wholesome farm fare. The beautiful garden is well-stocked with flowers.

Pricing guidelines for Zambia

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless airlines have special offers). Zambia combines well with Malawi and Botswana.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:
