    About Sausage Tree Camp

    • Close Panel

Sausage Tree camp is located on the banks of the Zambezi River, at the heart of the Lower Zambezi National Park, Zambia. This exclusive safari camp featured on the BBC’s Holiday Programme's 'Ten Best Luxury Destinations' and is the epitome of bush chic. Sausage Tree Camp combines the very best game viewing with traditional safari style and the highest standards of luxury and service. The camp overlooks an expanse of water channels and reed islands.

The camp’s French trained chef creates cuisine from his bush kitchen that has given him the reputation as one of Zambia’s finest chefs. Three course meals are prepared and enjoyed under the African sky, with white linen and atmospheric candlelight. The central dining and bar area ovrelooks the Zambezi River. Meals can also be served in the bush or on the private deck.

Accommodation at Sausage Tree Camp consists of eight Bedouin-style white canvas tents, including honeymoon suites, each with private open-air bathrooms, with running hot and cold water and flush toilets –and all loos have views! Local materials are utilised to create a minimalist style in which the reddish brown teak furniture, including sumptuous four-poster beds, contrasts crisply with pure white fabrics and flowing white mosquito nets. Each tent has its own personal Muchinda (butler) to attend to guests’ every whim. Elephant and other game frequently walk through camp, allowing guests to enjoy game experiences from the comfort of their tents. The honeymoon suites also have a private deck and pool. Kigelia House (opened in 2009) has 2 ensuite bedrooms and is ideal for small groups or families.

Activities include day and night game drives, nature walks, bird watching and bush picnics. The camp can also arrange boat trips for game viewing and to enjoy sundowners, as well as canoeing and fishing.

    Pricing guidelines for Zambia

    • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless airlines have special offers). Zambia combines well with Malawi and Botswana.

For a specific personal quote based on any tailor made itinerary you have in mind, please contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
