About River Club

  • Close Panel

River Club has a superb location on a sweeping bend of the Zambezi River near Victoria Falls. The main building is a former farmhouse dating back to 1948 and during its time as a hotel, The River Club has welcomed royalty and Hollywood stars among its guests. Today it provides luxurious accommodation and excellent facilities plus a wide range of activities.

There are 10 rooms including 2 suites and 1 family suite. All are open plan and have beautiful teak furniture. Rooms are screened and equipped with air conditioning and fans, mosquito net, a safe, bottled water and hairdryer. The standard chalets have a bathroom on the ground floor and an additonal toilet on the bedroom level. The river suites have teaks decks and plunge pools while the family suite has 2 bedrooms and an outdoor shower as well as the indoor bathroom. It also has a deck and plunge pool. All rooms are west facing so benefit from magnificent sunset views.

Zambezi House, the main lodge building, built in fine Edwardian-style. It houses the large dining room, sitting room and library, stocked with books, journals and a range of board games. There is a also a gift shop selling clothes, jewellery, crafts, books, postcards and curios. Meals are usually served on the terrace or on the pool deck as well as in the dining room. The gazebo in the gardens can be used for private dinners and small wedding ceremonies.

River Club is set in 50 acres of grounds including beautifully maintained gardens. The infinity pool has wonderful views. After a cooling swim, guests can relax on the sun loungers or in hammocks. Doing nothing, or even absolutely nothing, is a major activitiy here! For those feeling a little more active, on site activities include tennis, croquet, fishing and nature walks. There are 2 boats for river cruises and a game viewing vehicle for trips into Mosi O Tunya Park, known for its white rhino. The lodge also arranges visits to local villages, excursions to Vicoria Falls and into Livingstone and its Jewish Quarter. For the fitness enthusiast there is a running track and a gym plus a jacuzzi. The wellness centre offers massage and treatments.

Pricing guidelines for Zambia

  • Open Panel

We hope the following will give you a rough idea of costs. These are quoted per person based on twin share for two people, without international flights but including internal flights. We’ve used good standard accommodation throughout. There are nearly always ways to spend more money than we’ve suggested (!), but these prices show a good and realistic range for each type of trip.

International flights will add from about £600 to £800 depending on the season and route (unless airlines have special offers). Zambia combines well with Malawi and Botswana.

For each accommodation on this website you will find an indication of the price. The bands are based on the price per person per night at peak season and are represented by the following values for this country:

  £50 to £150
